KS2 Sports Day, by Mr Warner
Date: 20th Jun 2016 @ 11:55am
The weather behaved itself for the morning and we were able to run a fantastic Sports Day this year. Big thanks to Miss Hughes who spent a lot of time and effort in organising and redesigning the format of the event. Children were put into mixed aged teams and worked together to gather as many points for their teams as possible. There was a wonderful team spirit shown throughout the morning.

Date: 20th Jun 2016 @ 11:15am
As a part of our very busy Sports Week the children gathered in the hall to cheer in England in the Football European Championships. We accomodated our Welsh children by setting up a VIP area for them. National anthems were very proudly sang during the big game build up and it was a lovely atmosphere as we all cheered on the teams.
Eco Club, by Mrs Atherton
Date: 19th Jun 2016 @ 3:13pm
The children made bird boxes and bird feeders in Eco Club. They had to screw the bird boxes together showing great team work ensuring every child had a go. Then they had to paint the boxes and finally, they made bird feeders. Thank Mr Ward, they loved this activity. They then sold the boxes at the Summer Fair.
Well done.

Whatever floats your boat ..., by Miss Fisher
Date: 18th Jun 2016 @ 1:45pm
In the story we have been reading this week The Jolley Roger family become stranded in Dull-on-Sea, a quiet, seaside town, while their boat is fixed. In P1 we have been investigating which materials and what shape of vessels float best to help the family repair the shipwreck.
Shipwreck in P1! , by Miss Fisher
Date: 18th Jun 2016 @ 1:34pm
Throughout the infant classes we have been reading a story called The Pirates Next Door by Jonny Duddle. We have been getting to know the main character Matilda. She is a lonely little girl who longs for another child to play with. The old, seaside town she lives in is full of boring grown ups and it seems that nothing ever happens until ... The Jolley Rogers' are shipwrecked in Dull-on-Sea!
Well, that's just what happened in Class P1 too! A pirate ship came crashing into our classroom and on it we found gold, jewels, cutlasses and treasure maps.
Talented language learners , by Mrs Platt
Date: 18th Jun 2016 @ 9:49am
Mrs Taylor has been working with a group of our junior children every Friday to do additional French sessions. They have been working on their conversational skills and have also produced a magazine all written in French. Copies have been placed in our main entrance area for you to have a read - I'm sure like me, you will be impressed.
Busy busy Sports Week!, by Miss Hughes
Date: 17th Jun 2016 @ 10:43pm
Wow what a busy week it has been for sport! I want to say a huge thank you to all involved. I couldn't have done it without my absolutely AMAZING Sports Leaders who helped our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children on their Sports Day on Wednesday. They were so helpful and kind and gave really clear instructions to help our younger children complete their activities successfully. Teachers and parents came up to me and commented how fab they all were. Very proud! :) You are a credit to us!

EURO 2016, by Mrs Roberts
Date: 17th Jun 2016 @ 12:40pm
We were kindly given the opportunity to join as a school to watch the Euro 2016 England game in the hall on the big screen. What great fun we had! We had a hall full of banners, flags and lots of children cheering on their Country. What a shame home time came along before the last goal. England 2 Wales 1.
COME ON ENGLAND!
(What a shame for the little crew who obviously didnt get the result they were after as they were Wales supporters.)

Outdoor Maths, by Miss Hope
Date: 16th Jun 2016 @ 6:23am
Q2 have enjoyed an outdoor maths lesson this week. They were learning about capacity and volume. Miss Gray asked them to sort all her containers and bottles into 3 groups. Those that would hold a litre of water, those that would hold more than a litre of water and those that would hold less than a litre. The children worked in pairs with a measuring jug. They had to read the scale on the side of the jug accurately and fill the containers. Well done children - great measuring!

Thank you to Mrs Taylor for planning another great experience for our children at Queen's Park!
Mrs Taylor arranged for St Helens RLFC player, Levy Nzoungou, to come into school and help the children further practise their French. Levy who has recently signed for Saints after his move from Toulouse RLFC also did some rugby skills sessions with the class.
Thanks also to Levy for giving up his time to come and work with us!
Art homework projects, by Miss Hughes
Date: 15th Jun 2016 @ 2:01pm
In art this year we have been studying Nathan Wyburn. You might remember him from Britain's Got Talent a few years ago. He made a portrait of one of the judges out of toast and marmite. The children had to create a portrait of someone or design something using food in the same way Nathan Wyburn did. The effort the children and parents have put in has been brilliant. We can not thank parents enough for the continued support they have shown. I will be emailing Nathan Wyburn some of your spectacular art work you have made. I know he will be impressed.
Well done everyone!
